We need both! Passing an infrastructure plan on the level of the
#GreenNewDeal, combined with the job protections guarantees in Bernie’s worker democracy plan is everything we need to reboot our economy and workers’ incomes. Halting outsourcing is huge.https://bernie.substack.com/ -
Halting outsourcing and stopping the flow of illegal immigration and we need to not only fine employers who hire illegals but jail them too. Wage stagnation is a huge problem When I talk to my fellow members they all agree except for Bob he is just a contrarian though (seriously)

US companies undermine & retaliate against unionizing. I work for an EU company, unions are the norm & protect quality of life for all. Public traded companies are required by law to max shareholder profits, even (often) at the expense of worker rights & safety.

We must also decentralize union power, giving the power in said unions back to the workers!

Unions: Artificially high wages, creating barriers to employment, union fees, incompetent workers keeping their jobs....
-
I'd say that without unions you have artificially lower wages.
-
No, unions negotiate a minimum wage that is above the equilibrium and forces firms to hire fewer people causing deadweight loss in the labor market......
-
If there is labor needed to produce for a market where there is demand, that labor will be needed even if it has to be paid higher wages. Looking at profits and wage stagnation now we see that there is a lot or room for labor to be paid more while retaining jobs.
-
Take a Union for skilled workers such as an electrician. The union wage keeps qualified workers out of that market. They have to search for a job that’s outside of their field increasing the supply and depressing the wages in the general labor market.....
