They’re not in jail because of bail. They’re in jail because they broke the law.

No they are in jail because someone accused them of breaking the law. We all should know how often accusations are incorrect.
-
False accusations are very rare in most cases around 2%. I don’t think anybody would allow a potential rapist walk around freely until court because somebody else was falsely accused.
-
That 2% is a bit misleading. It doesn't mean that only 2% of the accused are innocent, in state courts the conviction rate is around 70-80% (depending on the state).

Well, we need one exception, Governor. I’m a youth football coaching legend, and sometimes I accuse opposing coaches of dealing drugs to get them arrested to disrupt their team. While the allegations aren’t true, I prefer they be held without bail.

Still amazed by the number of people in this world who finance their waterbeds.

Look up the pre-trial services in Washington DC. Actually here's a good article about it.https://www.npr.org/2018/09/02/644085158/what-changed-after-d-c-ended-cash-bail …

Exorbitant bail is what the King of England did to us .... the Republicans with help from Democrats have been incrementally talking us back to those conditions. Like debtors prison. This has been going on ... also forfeiture of property ... forever. The system is a rip-off.
-
The American Prison Industry is corrupt beyond belief.
-
It is corrupt. Low paid guards tend to be poor guards. The system is vicious. The entire system needs to be changed. USA should be ashamed that we have let it go on this long --- we have the largest population incarcerated in the world. More than China. Bernie 2020.
-
Trump is working on prison reform and people like Bernie and the democrats refuse to participate.
-
Sure, Trump and the Republicans, too, are all about justice; and very much against for-profit prisons ... We see that every day with our lying eyes.
