No one should be able to profit from filling our prisons. Not only must we ban private prisons, we must make phone calls and other communication free of charge and end police departments’ reliance on fines and fees for revenue.

In America we justify anything as long as we profit from it. Whether it's Healthcare, prisons, or education, it's disgusting & destroying our country. It's also unsustainable as an economic model.

Fair enough but we know social capitalism is the best idea for now . I don’t think you cant go completely to socialist without that buffer . It would have to be a violent take over and I don’t have the stomach for that .

absolutely. There are good things to capitalism but what we have currently is a predatory capitalism which does not work. More socialism is needed in the current system

Prisoners do pay their fair share. They work as well, its called the chain gang

And yet each prisoner in federal prison costs taxpayers $32,000 each year. I do believe they should work that cost off as part of their debt to society.

Correct. And who do you think is pocketing that inflated cost? Prisoners are literally working for pennies to make the prisons cash while we subsidize the cost of housing and feeding. Imagine working 8-12 hours a day to live in an efficiency hotel and only eat ramen.
