The inventors of insulin sold the patent for $1. A vial costs $6 to make. Drugmakers sell it for $300 a vial in the United States. That level of greed is scandalous, it is outrageous, and when we win it is going to end.pic.twitter.com/nyXMiyX5HS

Also over one million people in Southern California cross to border towns in Baja California like Tijuana, Tecate, Mexicali and Algodones for medication and medical services that in the United States they can’t afford. That is 1 in every 20 adults in California.

This isn’t just San Diego or Los Angeles. People drive from Bakersfield, Riverside and many other points further north up to the Central Valley and the Antelope Valley. This is a common occurrence that simply, in the richest country in the world, SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.

Take a second. Imagine the plight of those who are undocumented and can’t do this trip for lifesaving medical services and medication. Stuck in a place where they can’t afford the cost of healthcare, nor can afford to visit an alternative from which they’d be unable to return.

Critical, lifesaving procedures and medicine should not cost an arm and a leg, and most importantly, should not have to force a person to visit a different country, JUST TO STAY ALIVE OR KEEP A LOVED ONE ALIVE. These things we need, urgently, from M4A to DACA go hand in hand.

La sanidad y la educación gratuita son los pilares básicos de una sociedad justa. De poco sirve ser el país más rico del mundo si esa riqueza está repartida entre unos pocos.

We Europeans are mystified by this. How is it that ALL medications and testing items related to diabetes are FREE in Ireland - and most of Europe - under Long Term Illness Schemes? The schemes are not means tested. Why can't the US do it too?

Annoys the shit out of me this. My lad's pumped stopped working on holiday. New one sent by NHS within a day for free. 4k worth of tech. In the meantime he used injections with a different vial, of which we had plenty of for back up in case of pump failure. All free.

And when you are lucky enough to have insurance, the pharmacies try to push near-expiration product on customers. I got Epipens that were within 2 months of expiration many times. I complained and got them exchanged, but it’s like the industry is adding insult to injury!

Excellent point! Same here Sandra but without the same recurring cost. They expire far too soon and could be engineered to last years. Both my son and daughter have peanut 🥜 allergies. My wife gets new ones from the doctor when they expire - Free for kids about £10 adults.

If we help Bernie get elected we will catch up to European standards of health care for all! I have a very good insurance, but it takes me 3+ months to see a specialist, and 3 weeks for my daughter to see a doctor about a bad cold. We are forced to go to urgent care centers.😷

It depends on age, deductible, coverage. My daughter used to pay $287 in 2012, then $403 then $587 and finally $800+, at which point we had to opt for a large deductible. It’s no longer mandatory. Now she pays $187+$50 for dental&vision, but limited benefits. I’ll send more info
