Disagree Mayor Sanders. We need to fire all teachers and use their salaries on coaches and football fields/equipment. An hour in the weight room is more valuable than a lifetime in the classroom

I uh, what? So you’re just proposing no schools, then? As both a teacher and a football fan, I am a bit astounded tbh.

Coach tell her about the mandatory toddler prep program you're currently operating to prep the next generation of downfield blockers. It's never too early to start learning how to hold an opponent on their place.

For 180 days of work. That’s $333 per day. The average day for a teacher is about 6.7 hours. That’s about $50/Hour, to start. That’s pretty good, Bernie! But education is a STATE responsibility. Why are you talking about FEDERAL salary edicts? Maybe some states can’t afford it.

My wife is teacher. She gets to school at 7am. She comes home at 4pm. That’s 9 hours. After she comes homes she spends until 8pm correcting and planning for the next day. That’s another 4 hours. 9+4 = 13. She does this 5 days a week. 65hrs/wk

You don’t have to value teachers, that’s your prerogative. But almost all educators work outside school hours.

Whar people dont get is the 8-3 that a teacher is at school is like an actor being on stage. This isnt like a regular job where you can roll in hungover and just "wing it". You need to prep outside school hours, you dont have a "good day" or "bad day" you have good days with...

100%! I teach 8th grade, I’m focusing on my current students but you best believe I’m still checking in with 9th grade teachers about my former kids. I’m agreeing to pick up a kid on the way to work so he’s not in danger of dropping out of school.

Which, I’m not saying to seem altruistic. I’m saying that I’m average, and thousands of other teachers are doing wayyyy more than I do. The work doesn’t stop when the kids walk out the door.

Private schools pay lower salaries than public schools, while requiring less schooling and formal training of their teachers.
