My aunt and uncle were in a similar situation. He had Parkinson’s and finally had to go to a nursing home. They lived a comfortable middle class life but couldn’t afford that so they impoverished themselves to get Medicaid help.

When I worked in annuities at MetLife we had clients every week calling to close their annuities in order to qualify for Medicaid. It was the only way they could get the care they needed in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.

As a CNA for years + prior work at the Medicaid eligibility office, I've seen this happen to SO many ppl. It's devastating to witness. Ppl who don't think this is egregious on its face: Google the average monthly price for a nursing home w/ assistance, then tell me its just.

Please let seniors have security and be safe in their own homes not be pulled out and stuck in facilities with no due process so their homes can be sold off and their heirs disenfranchised while evildoing attorneys, Judges, and their crony strangers prosper!
