You DO know that fire service and schools are paid for by local taxes, right?

Health care needs to be paid one way or another. You would be hard pressed to identify any other service that is universally needed by the population. It should be provided by the government & paid through taxes. It is absolutely insane that it is managed by profit motivated cos.
-
Sorry, I like to select my own health care. I do not want wait-until-you-die socialist health care, substandard health care, having the government state I am older, ergo, I am not worth the 'investment' of a cure. And that, my friend, is what we are facing here. No, thank you.
-
That's funny because every other country that has universal healthcare also has better health outcomes than the USA. Our universal healthcare system (Canada) is not perfect but nobody dies or files for bankruptcy because they do not have health insurance.
-
No one in the US dies either from not having insurance. Care is handled by most hospitals and written off - a huge overhead factored into and paid by those who actually pay for their medical services.
-
People do die from lack of insurance, every day. Its not people being turned away by emergency rooms; it's people who couldn't afford to get a check up about that chest pain, or that weird mole, or that persistent cough. And, yes, people unable to afford their medication
-
However in nation's like Canada where they have universal health care it's not universally accessable as the idea makes it out to be, in Canada people wait an average of 7 months to get a MRI which in many cases is too late for many patients, it looks good on paper but won't work
-
We have nearly four times as many MRI machines per capita as Canada. You're cherry-picking a pathologic case. Besides, triage and rationing of care are a fundamental part of medicine, and I'd rather it be unbiased by my income. Took 2 weeks to finally take my boyfriend to the hospital where we found he had pneumonia & sever asthma attacks, our bill for 1 night & ER visit is over 19,000 as we cannot afford insurance through his work, we must pass Bernies Medicare For All so NOBODY questions getting care.
-
Some of the responses on here are disgusting to those asking if we are applying for assistance, we are in the process but not sure if we'll be approved even if we are they only pay a portion the rest is on us, we waited 2 weeks hoping he would get better thinking it would pass.

Americans LOVE Medicare For All. Congress seems to be bought out thoughpic.twitter.com/GCWTv2cy8z
-
All the while, Congressional members enjoy free outpatient medical care at military facilities in DC area.

I’ve never pulled out my credit card for the fire department. It’s called taxes, Old Major.

But that's what he said, Mr. North.
