We need the best-educated population in the world. We're going to make public colleges and universities tuition-free and open that to the undocumented.

No. We don't need more people going to college. What we need very badly, is more kids going to trade and vocational schools and apprenticeships, where for little or no cost, they actually learn real in-demand job skills in high paying trades.

Make it free and conditional on maintaining a certain courseload + GPA. Classwork *is* work. Making students get external jobs to pay for class just makes it harder for them to focus on learning, especially when so many would still have to work to afford rent, food etc.
