Is voting a human right?

I support Senator Sanders and others who uphold the right of all citizens to vote - state disenfranchisement of prisoners must end.

If you compare US to other nations we imprison people at a rate 4-5x higher than China, than Russia, than Saudi Arabia. At a rate 6-8x higher than Germany and France...
-
Look at how Germany and France are doing right now, they’re not exactly an example to look up to.
-
Lol, France and Germany should spend more than a college enrollment every year per prisoner and lockup more of their citizens until they match the US. For sure that will make their economy sing!
-
Plus they have that healthcare thing....

May it’s because they do about 60% of the crime?
-
Well according to the statistics of the FBI, black people have committed nearly 40% of all violent crimes in the US even though they are 13% of the population. It's rather difficult to assume and invalidate these types of crimes as systemic racism.
-
You are fundamentally misreading those stats. Making up 40% of violent crime convictions does not mean black people are more likely to commit those crimes. It literally just means they are convicted for those crimes more often. That is by definition a systematic problem.
-
Unless if magically all other races are getting away with violent crimes without any justice. Lesser crimes are more likely to be linked to racial profiling, but not so much violent crimes.
-
...yes, that literally happens all the time. You are more likely to be convicted regardless of the crime or evidence if you ste black than if you are white. You are more likely to get a lenient sentence or none at all if you are white. These are facts my guy.
-
If we are talking about sheer conviction and sentencing, it is possible that black people may be tried and dealt with more harshly. But I'm strictly talking about crimes. And we need statistical, honest evidence to make those postulations.
-
Instead of arguing about the problem can we figure out the solution. Such as black people being more likely to be involved in gangs for the simple fact that they system is so built against low income communities which black people are more likely to be in......
-
That is another interesting point to consider. Impoverished white neighborhoods have less statistics of violent criminal and gang behavior. Poverty doesn't always equal crime, however MUCH of the times it does equate.

The GOP is always focusing a small percentage of population in their propaganda and throws that blanket over the entire population. Don't generalize. Get the facts.pic.twitter.com/obWd28Hs5P
