NJ passed #BailReform here last year & thus far statistics support it.
Fewer repeat offenders & nobody running for the hills by most accounts. Good stuff.

Could you please share the reports that show that crime is down? How many FTA cases are waiting to be resolved? Thx in advance
#bailreform -
The reports linked in here. I haven't checked every metric, just skimmed it in passing. They say the courts broke.. that's a good thing; shows it's working! & a cautionary tale for the next state to avoid that fiscal shortfall too! Good luck!https://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2018/02/report_finds_nj_bail_reform_is_working_--_but_its.html …

You’ve already answered our question in the headline. Already going broke and this will eventually end judicial system and a society without law/order is what? Anarchy! Thx for the info
#bailreform is dangerous -
not exactly, that just means downsizing the court to fit the need. And if the need to judge people is going down, that is indeed a good thing.

Theyll still want the same annual budgets for staff. They never want to give up money. Once they have a level of employees, doing less work doesnt mean spending less on it! The civil service is the same everywhere. Gotta maintain budgets. "Use or lose" is a mantra for them.
-
I wrote this before reading the article, I commented another viable solution. This was the most important part in the article: "its funding mechanism, which relies on court fees rather than the state budget.", thats what needs to be fixed

Many municipalities use bogus misdemeanor violations to incarcerate un convicted people with only hope of getting out to post bail. Ridiculous for non violent crimes.
-
Every crime has a possible victim.
#bail is to assure that the alleged facts have guarantee of presenting itself in a court of law. With no accountability you will have no respect for law anarchy.#bailreform -
Well, being in the business you are in I'm sure your opinion is without any motives to cloud it say like maybe financial. Grabbing people & incarcerating them for simple possession & nothing more then forcing payment to be released until resolved does not benefit society.

Yeah, real good comeback to the points I made. More accurately, lack of a comeback. You signed up as a Company logo so your consternation lacks merit from the get. Much as your original comment.

Guess that means you will not be applying for paid intern experience?

Thank you
@SenSanders for staying focused on this.

Unless someone breaks in your business and takes all your food and vandalizes your business space. Then released from jail with no guarantee to appear so you can be assured disposition for restitution.

This is a risky idea. Not entirely bad but could be very very risky. We could switch to a part bail/part monitor hook up system. Where minor crimes and non violent crimes are released on monitor hook up and keep bail for serious criminals.
-
Ankle monitoring is more expensive than professional
#bail and it has zero accountability when cut off.#bailreform -
That’s why I said it’s a risky idea. I’m just think with technology we could figure out something that prevents potentillay innocent criminals from staying in lock up. Not all of them turn out to be guilty.
-
More reasonable
#bail amounts with quicker arraignments/trials.
