That may be true for some Bernie, but not for the players on my youth football team. Their “right” to health care is whatever I say it is. And we have a saying - if you don’t need surgery, you don’t need to go to the hospital; you need to get back in teh game.

That's right, Bernie. GoFundMe is not healthcare, and the US should be ashamed that it has gotten to this point.

Wrong. Health care is a service. A service that is provided by individuals. You do not have the right to someone else’s service.

So, poor people should just all die because they can't afford this "service"? That's what you're saying, right?

No, anyone who understands what "rights" are, properly defined, knows that you don't have the right to the product of someone else's labor. That implies a form of slavery.

It would be paid for by taxes, you know who pay most of the taxes? The rich. People who literally have more money than they know what to do with and you’re objecting to those fuckers paying the medical bills of Americans in poverty who can’t afford health insurance? (1)

And although obviously other people pay taxes the cost to the individual average American would be relatively minimal and probably made up for by the fact they would never have to buy health insurance again or worry about not having it. (2)

They won't be minimal, they will be increasingly expensive. Particularly when the employers all leave due to high costs of production leaving higher unemployment.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/29/world/americas/brazil-cuban-doctors-revolt.html …

Costs wouldn’t go up at all they’d go down, in a state healthcare system big pharma companies would be unable to massively inflate the price of basic medications for profit, the same would happen for everyone else producing for the service resulting in lower running costs.

Why do you think big pharma is able to inflact their costs? The FDA. Costs can not go down from subsidizing demand. Particularly when you remove the pricing mechanism of the free market. There's literally nothing government produces efficiently.

Have a look at the price of the HIV pills that stop 1) people dying from AIDS and 2) people giving others HIV/AIDS. They increased literally overnight from $13.50 to $750 per pill, they did this for profit. Their excuse was insurance will pay but then that makes premiums go up

Can I just add that $13.50 to $750 constitutes a price hike of over 5000% percent which is obscene

HUGE difference between cost of prescriptions and quality of care!!! US is bussing people to Canada for cheap meds, but thousands of Canadians make doc appointments in US due mainly to wait time but also higher quality of care.

And in the case of my specific family, critical care was only found in the US. This is what I'm referring to:https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2016-08-03/canadians-increasingly-come-to-us-for-health-care …
