  3. In a Nigerian character, Bummi, names her London-born daughter 'Carole' to make it easier for her to succeed in the UK. It works. The growing band of racism-deniers say we're living in a meritocracy and such discrimination does not exist.

    Very strange being interviewed by someone who doesn't actually ask questions but instead makes statements and then falls silent. After a while you realise that you are supposed to respond to their statements. Is this the new normal in journalism?
