yes! outrageous that drivers should have to pay for the roads they use rather than imposing costs on everyone else. thank goodness NSW Labor has a magic money tree to fund projects.https://twitter.com/7NewsSydney/status/998047423250366465 …

Tolls should be used to recoup the cost and then be removed. That was done with the West Gate Bridge in Vic last century.

Non-drivers (e.g. people who ride buses, or anyone who consumes goods transported by trucks) also benefit from roads.

You can add Ambulances, Fire response, Police etc etc. I’ve got no problem with tolls, just the profiteering monopoly our governments have gifted to the lucky few.

Funny how govts don’t charge for all infrastructure eh? Should the public pay extra for every thing it utilises, Parks, schools, swimming pools, libraries? Does tax count for nothing? Should cyclists pay for all those bike paths? Is that your argument? User pays, always?

Sorry Bernard, but we already paid for the M4. The reintroduced M4 toll that will go for 43 yrs is subsidies for the east and has made parra road a carpark. try driving on parra road and you will know what i mean. Sure toll new roads not ones we already paid for

I think if you read "Game of Mates" you'll see that the toll road structures are paid for by everyone anyway. Theyre just a structuring exercise to keep the cost off government balance sheet and transfer $$$ to the operators. IF we need roads we're better off owning them
