What shits me the most is people who use the word "balance". "Oh," they say, "we need to get the balance right between privacy & security."

'Balance' is meaningless when the weights given to 'privacy' & 'security' are out of kilter and the fulcrum is shifted in favour of the government

True. "Balance" means to "confiscate" or "cut into" something long accepted as a right, such as personal freedoms or protections.

Most people who talk about balance mean 'I want to hear less criticism of my point of view.' Hence war on ABC by people who don't watch.
