If penalty rates are such a burden for cafes & restaurants, why are they growing way faster than other businesses...pic.twitter.com/7eKuH5THLR

@BernardKeane @CamSalton No one is saying they should be abolished. The argument is about excessive rates of 2.5 and 2.75 on certain days.

.@GreenwoodBen @CamSalton and whether it's abolish or reduce, it's unsupported by evidence either way

@mikjeffo @BernardKeane @CamSalton Try telling that to the people who didn't get a shift at all, it happened.

@GreenwoodBen @mikjeffo @CamSalton and all the anecdotal evidence I'm seeing in my twitter feed is of open, packed cafes anyway

@BernardKeane @mikjeffo @CamSalton it's Saturday. I'm talking about rates of 2.5+ not rates of 1.5 which should remain.

@BernardKeane @mikjeffo @CamSalton The examples I've given are real and there are countless more. Have you ever worked in a small business?

@GreenwoodBen @mikjeffo @CamSalton yep. Why? Where I have and haven't worked is no more relevant than your stories.

@BernardKeane @mikjeffo @CamSalton The 'stories' are real-world examples. Many don't want to get berated for speaking out, as I am now.

@BernardKeane @mikjeffo @CamSalton Why don't you go and speak to small business operators, they'll give you plenty of 'useless' anecdotes
