I generally prefer govts to know less about me, not more. The information balance between govt and citizens is already asymmetric enough.

@BernardKeane It's our business to demand more transparency of government. The personal privacy debate was over ten years ago.

@OxbloodRuffin agree we need to demand transparency. But I'm happy to be a privacy deadender, esp. given the lies the govt is peddling here

@BernardKeane I feel we need a new privacy paradigm. I don't care if my free services data is collected. And I'll go darkness for privacy.

@OxbloodRuffin ditto - I have few personal concerns re privacy. But Australian media is in the dark ages on basic IT security.

@BernardKeane (In theory. I'm not suggesting the current govt has used any evidence at all in the making up their policies)

@BernardKeane Isn't there a role for census in seeing demographic changes for planning policy?

@BernardKeane If the #census served their interests more than ours, I don't think they'd axe it. This will help hide the damage they do.

@BernardKeane as I understand it, only thing retained from census is the aggregate data, which is public. Where's the asymmetry?
