This piece has major flaws. Contrary to what this claims, the Rudd govt instituted an arms-length board appointment process to end political appointees. And Mike Mrdak is a public servant of unimpeachable integrity.https://twitter.com/verbaliza/status/1045204161397248000 …

Questions about independence go to the way appointments are made to the board – a process that has been politicised by both major parties. http://theconversation.com/with-justin-milne-gone-how-does-the-abc-go-about-restoring-its-crucial-independence-103987?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=twitterbutton …

2/2 Under Abbott that public servant of unimpeachable integ appointed Neil Brown and Janet Albrechtsen to ensure unbiased appointments. Gimme a break!

Did not mean to imply Mrdak responsible for those appointments: it was Dr Ian Watt https://amp.smh.com.au/opinion/conservative-appointments-put-our-abc-in-danger-20140708-zszob.html …

The problem is Bernard that ‘public servants of unimpeachable integrity’ are not really allowed to exist any more. Witness Rudd’s ABC Board nomination panel, supposedly appointed by the Secretary of PMC. 1/2

I'm getting sick of the "both major parties" line when discussing the poor decisions made by the current government.

If minsters did the job no public organisation would need a board. Save money and make the gen manager responsible to the minister who answers ultimately to the people.

So what you are saying is Libs pretend to want minimal government interference yet revel in appointing cronies to top jobs to hold the power to do just that? Whodathunkit...?
