Oh with such ease does ScumMo re-write history. “‘We’ made a few mistakes” None done in the name of the British Crown to Australia’s First Nations were mistakes. It was deliberate dispossession & attempted genocide. Cruel inhuman deprivation on an industrial scale.

And in far north Queensland on the sugar plantations a bit of slavery...

Not to mention the small matter of forcing pregnant aboriginal women to dive for pearls off Broome. Apparently someone found that pregnancy allowed the women to stay under water longer.

A few rapes. A few frontier massacres. A few cases of racial profiling. A few cases of racism. A few deaths in custody.

This is the way he speaks about everything. Just explains it as a simple matter that can be brushed away or easily fixed. Not sure if he does it to appeal to the simple folk that vote for PHON or if he is just like PHON. Either way he needs to be taken to task for it.

And besides, it was all just a bit of high spirited fun - no harm intended. Boys will be boys and all that.

What about whole sale theft of South Oz by deliberately not following King Willy iv's (I think) Letters Patient that way back in 1800's acknowledges Indigenous sovereignty and right to be respected. We suffer convenient selective white amnesia

Could have done this a tad better, can understand why we were once perceived racist. Glad times have changed and now we are one of the most multicultural nations in the World.pic.twitter.com/xygFVDdqLk

A few things we could have done better: • keep our treatment of indigenous people better-hidden • wipe out all indigenous cultures instead of just most of them • exclude indigenous people from anti-slavery laws • stop increasing indigenous people’s life expectancy

I'm sorry, but I'm partial to the widespread concept of a national day being a celebration of independence from a colonial power, that affects the whole country on the same day. Rather than Somebody Else's Harbour Is A Gaol Now Day, or It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time Day

@ScottMorrisonMP's take on#AustraliaDay is a demonstration of his ignorance. He asserts Australia was founded on 26 January 1788. Apparently unwilling to acknowledge the Australia came into existence on 1 January 1901 as the ‘Commonwealth of Australia’. No grounds for smugness.
