Soz, the tweet was in reference to the year: Norway 1998 (now worth a trillion). Around that time, Howard/Costello were returning the surpluses (to buy our baubles). Our future fund set up a little late in 2006.

The Norwegian Sovereign Fund was part of a crucial strategy to manage the resources of the nation for the benefit of everyone. The Future Fund plays no such role, and Australia has sadly never had a national resource management strategy.
