Speaking in a robotic monotone would be your preference? Agree that the clear communication of ideas is an important skill. Good orators choose their words to suit the purpose, audience, and occasion.

I am no fan of Turnbull, but... he gave by far the best Tribute in the House after the death of Margaret Whitlam. I was in the public gallery that day. It was impressive.
