Turnbull lost in 2009 but regained voters' respect post-Grech for standing up for what he believed in. I fear this time he'll lose again, but without anyone's respect.

turns out that what he believed in was his own job and nothing else. He's a fairweather politician who will believe in whatever gets him elected.

He is" the architect of his own downfall".More importantly though he will be dismissed as weak & the PM most bereft of ideas since McMahon. #auspol

Nah he didn't believe it then either, he believed it would get him votes. That is all.

He lost respect a long time ago. He'd gain a small amount if he resigned. A lot more if he called an election. He'll never regain what he had. Never.

The media still respects him. Too much, I say.

Why? Because he lacks the political nous, and the spine to stand up to these nutters, and call them out for what they are! In capitulating yet again today, he threw away his very last chance to regain some respect, and dignity. Now just a dead man walking.

Turnbull just moved too soon. Had he let Abbott go to the election, he would have lost because the whole country had had a gutsful. Turnbull could have come in and moved Menzies party back to the centre.
