It used to be worth buying @FinancialReview because they had quality journalism. Now ideological bias has turned it to dross + no sane person would make an investment decision based on its advocacy #auspol #DeadMedia

the ideological stuff became intense and unpleasant from the time Stutch took the helm I think
-
Agreed. Within months it lost all credibility. Amazing that it was a great paper even in the time of PP McGuiness, but now that’s all gone
-
They didn't need to bow to anybody in days past, when they had profits and were well read and respected. I) know staff struggled under Glenn Burge (before Stutch), but the paper was still ok in that era.

I assumed the banks only allowed Turnbull to have this royal commission on the understanding that it would 'get' the industry super funds.

Yet people get the benefit of more “apparent” money in their accounts year on year.

Thank you Bernard for doing your job of being a proper journalist. No wonder the Media Industry is failing with crap like that from the AFR.

Telling priorities. Whose byline appears on that? Or is it an editorial?
-
Ha! Found the editorial. "The commission's procedures largely trawl known case studies & for which customers may already have been redressed...Some suggest there is an inherent conflict between a profit-making financial services provider & the interests of its customers. But..."!

Having been in both big biz and Industry Super...Im with the

Unions advocate for better pay and conditions, which would increase the super contributions,.. there's a strong case they are fairly well aligned! Some very pejorative language here for what should be objective analysis.. 'rigging','grubby hands', 'apparent returns'

“Trade unions assume their interest are their members interests” look I’m not an expert but isn’t that their point?
-
Luckily businesses never assume their interests align with shareholders. How could they ever assume something like that?

I am a union member and have industry super. I donate to another unions fighting fund when I see the need.I have no problem with any of this. There was a time when unions, the arts, culture, community, society etc were thought to be good things

Conjurers at work. If the narrative doesn't fit their agenda they bring out the smoke & mirrors. Only "apparent", FFS! Are these people mad?
