I've administered a Commonwealth grants program. I (briefly) ran a procurement area. I've worked on major procurements (Australia Network). I've read scores of ANAO reports. The $440m handout to the GBRF is the most egregious case of maladministration I've ever heard of.https://twitter.com/KKeneally/status/1024835466560847873 …

In May the Great Barrier Reef Foundation’s Anna Marsden told @smh that Sir Ian McFarlane was NOT one of their 4 founders. Yesterday Ms Marsden quietly released a statement that said he was. Why is it so hard for Ms Marsden to give a straight answer to such a basic question? pic.twitter.com/F6ES8ENXIG

Yes I am a procurement manager and I have advised on and managed large procurements, but I’ve done more due diligence on 80k worth of specialist technology than they did in this

I have sat in quite a few tender panels for funding. Always followed the rules. It’s not difficult!

Yeah if you have been on a tender panel you know that’s it not hard and the rules are pretty straightforward but this was just handing half a bil to friends, I think if Dastiari had to resign then Trumble must too

In Victoria can be sacked for spending $50 the wrong way, after spectacular corruption cases it’s clamped down like you wouldn’t believe, but it was needed it public money

Absolutely. Imagine if a Labor PM, had gave an unsolicited grant of nearly 1/2 billion $, with no transparent process, to a priv’t organisation. The Murdoch press in particular, would be apoplectic, and rightly calling for full disclosure. But this is the LNP, so hardly a peep!

Exactly. To maintain consistency I assume that any day now, we can expect Michailea Cash to send in the APF to seize relevant documents - assuming of course there are any !

Truly it is not overstating the case to say that this should bring down a Government. For all journalists out there this is a political story of the decade. Make yourself famous.

Yes, anyone who's needed to apply for a govt. grant knows the required process is involved and requires significant detail to justify the use of public money and the need for accountability in all aspects.

If this massive grant goes through, every cent better be accounted for and allocated with complete transparency. If not it will be siphoned off to LNP mates that I know. Corruption at high levels.

One of the key points seems to be that this charity could spend it all on beer and gee gees and there’s SFA that the govt put in place to monitor it.

We still need to know what accounts this money was deposited into and who gets the interest from these accounts. It smells highly of a #LNP donation scam and a Cayman Islands payback of 1.7 mill
