People are not 'hysterical', they are airing their views - much the same as you but without your elite platform. A better question is why are Baird & others discrediting critics of the IPA instead of getting answers from the IPA that people want. Isn't that the job of journalism?

We just don’t want conflict of interest , paid commercials , cash for comment . There’s plenty of voices who receive no funding from business or govt ...our universities are full of academics who have no barrow to push
#thedrum -
It is incredible that the ABC is attacking their own audience and professional journalists are jumping on the bandwagon insulting the intelligence & integrity of anyone who wants the IPA held to account. The world is a very strange place.
-
Yes the world is a strange place .It’s becoming all about the influencer ...and not so much about the truth or what’s right .

Drum's not to blame, but the ABC does seem be going to Right-wing sources rather than experts more frequently. 7.30 using US think tanks like FDD rather than locals

I think people are reacting to the cumulative effects of the last couple of years of v frequent IPA appearances across all ABC platforms, sometimes on the same day.
#The Drum is the first to take action to achieve greater diversity. There are definitely other conservative voices. -
And there is a proliferation of those other often arch conservative voices, and I would assert an over representation of them. Australians are not, as a general rule, radically right wing or archly conservative.
-
I accept
@bairdjulia ‘s explanation of the number of “high profile” conservatives declining to appear. I have seen tweeps since make some other useful suggestions

Bernard it's not just the
@ABCthedrum but all ABC programs, plus radio, newspapers,@SkyNewsAust etc. What has pissed people off is that no-one has ever disclosed that Gina was their largest donor, including@bairdjulia.#auspol#IPA#GinaNoHeart -

I'm sure that has been asked before, but the IPA have refused to answer. Unfortunately for it the court demanded an answer about her contributions to the IPA.

I guess it’s a bit like crime statistics for the Sudanese community. They’re small in total numbers and proportionally over represented. Unlike the Sudanese though, all members of the IPA are all a threat to most of us.

Bernard: I would like to hear from more diverse conservative voices. The IPA is a fringe group, with an agenda that is wildly unpopular in the electorate. Left groups with similarly unpopular fringe opinions are not nearly so prominent.
-
I don’t think the IPA is more prominent than the fringe left because of deliberate bias. They’re well funded, well organised, willing to show up on time in a nice suit for free. It’s a laziness bias; they’re easy to have on, and left fringe groups would surely be a giant hassle.
