The appointment of Gaetjens to Treasury was appalling. But putting in a former Liberal candidate and staffer to run the Productivity Commission, one of our few remaining sources of independent policy advice, is even worsehttps://www.crikey.com.au/2018/07/16/partisan-appointments-show-a-government-bent-on-destroying-independent-advice/ …

There should be NO appointment. An independent public service entity whose role is to select the best candidates should recruit. It was Howard that really started the politicisation of the Public Service & the rot just contines to the current psuedo-fascism.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the Libs have gone out of their way this time around to control the message.

I will take it one step further. The IPA behind the LIBs seem to be setting the political agenda, saturating the media

IMO a simple rule that should apply. Any political appointments more than two years after the date of the last election should be contract positions that terminate at the next election.

Immense damage has been done to our democratic institutions by LNP political appointments and those appointees will still be in place, many for life, long after this government has gone.
