Listening to @RNBreakfast at present with someone from the AMA who exemplifies all the worst features of 'trust me, I’m a doctor'

'Do no harm' & 'patient confidentiality' are now things of the past, no longer exist, just words now.

I may have difficulty as the only ID I have is a medicare card, but will phone later and see if I can still opt out.
-
Yes call them but can you use an ID card issued by the RTA to people who don't have a licence? If so, apply for one and you should have it without risking expiry of the opt out period
-
I just looked up the My Health site and it says you need passport, drivers licence or "immicard" which is for people on visas to access services. How does a person who doesn't travel O/S or (like me) doesn't drive manage? Call them & you could also tweet to

Yep, that's my problem.

At worst, you might have to get a passport. Expensive plus need original birth certificate & a few other original documents. You'd have to get a proof of age card or photo card (RTA?) as "Category A" document. Here are the requirements -https://www.passports.gov.au/passports-explained/how-apply/eligibility-citizenship-and-identity …
-
Yeah, no birth cert either
-
Gee Wolfie do you have your paperwork from the vet for your shots? Identity man!

Alas. I'll probably just forget the whole thing

The government will NEVER be able to guarantee the security of health records. It’s technically impossible, despite any level of encryption and database security. Hacking and unauthorised access (using valid login) are both possible .

I found out I already had one! How?? So I tried to go through the process to delete it, except I need that @#%* phone app I deleted due to its intrusiveness, or I need to create a new mygov account...what the blazing heck!
-
Do you live in the Blue Mountains or far north Qld, or did you in 2015/2016? There were trials there which were also on an opt out basis and if you didn't opt out you would have a
#MyHealthRecord -
No, but I wonder if I managed to get tangled up with it when I needed a healthcare card?
-
That sounds like a real possibility. Possibly an opt out provision that wasn't highlighted. Someone today referred to an area in Victoria where they had a trial on an opt in basis and questioned if that could have resulted in MyHealthRecords being created without realising it

Thanks for the reminder. Now done too. Important to emphasise to public that you can always create later after security issues sorted.

Probably ties in with GP's being ordered to drug test their private patients & passing it to a 3rd party for punitive action, that has been going on for the last 2 yrs, & media wont even cover it, I know from personal experience, being ordered by 'Pharmaceutical services' !
