That makes more sense than people might realise. After all just look at Telstra. Why do they invest in loss making regional towers? Because they believe it gives them an advantage. If they didn't think it would they wouldn't care for the most part.
Companies only spend money when they think it'll give them an advantage. Pay higher wages to CSR workers, workers become happy, they give good service, company can say they have the best customer service for example.
Of course workers don't need the IMF to tell them that. If the LNP were serious about the economy they would stand up for sector bargaining.
Well who'd a thunk it? Capitalism is based on greed and ego.
Corporations are pretty recent - the British East India company was the first joint stock company, in 1600. We may have only had a taste of what corporations are capable of
