One thing intrigues me though @SenatorFifield - how do the Liberals -- who voted to privatise the ABC - think it would work if only the urban ABC was sold to Rupert and the rural/regional one left in public hands - how would that work?

He doesn’t need to answer this very pertinent question because now he’s saying that the majority vote at his own party’s conference is all just “Labor lies”.

Only have ABC via NBN, and you have to type in your postcode before seeing iView? It’ll know you’re lying if you put in a rural postcode because haha of course your NBN isn’t good enough to stream.

Isn't that an even more socialist outlook, holding on to the part that is not competitive to have the government own it? Lunatics, one and all.

why even have a Liberal party conference when you won't even accept their vote. Are they all worthless members or are you trying to deflect the issue Senator?

A licence agreement that created a permanent flow of fees to the privatised ABC owner, thus tax payer funding the hell out of a private provider for no real social gain?

The eventual aim is to pay their chief taxpayer funded (through unnecessary government advertising) propagandist big money to rebroadcast to rural areas

Mitch: Well, Bernard, what we'd do is subsidise the regional content with ad space promoting local businesses. Us: But wouldn't you be taking revenue from regional networks? Mitch: My genius is that all ABC revenue would go into a fund for commercial networks to share.

Maybe they could beg to buy any content they need, like national, political, international news, from Rupert Murdoch's news filtering team?

It wouldn’t work. The rural bit would become the standard Country Party (sic) boondoggle
