Surely we don't need drivers' licences for the same reason. If you want to use a publicly-funded road, you can assess the risk of being killed by an unlicenced motorist.https://twitter.com/MurrayWatt/status/1006689397906071552 …

Gist of @TheIPA “evidence” to Senate inquiry: consumers don’t need the tradespeople they use to be licensed, because “sovereign individuals” “should be left to assess the amount of risk they want to take on”. Honestly, what planet do these people live on?

And why bother registering doctors or surgeons, or insist on them reaching academic standards? Think how much money we could save by closing medical schools and universities.

IPA seems to have shifted from promoting corporate interests to embracing a particularly mad neoliberal /libertarian philosophy - in line with some US groups, as others have noted, wonder where their funding comes from these days?

Thank the lord for this IPA. I get sick of warranted police officers trying to arrest me for Drunk driving. Time I took charge and started arresting them for retarding my progress. Warrant be damned.

What is a ‘Sovereign’ individual anyway? I mean I admit I am just a lightweight but when did citizens become ‘Sovereign Individuals’? I must have missed that memo from @TheIPA

I just saw news item - Logan lady rode her horse into a bottle shop (chose not to drive!). Cop told her to get off it saying "Same as a car you can't ride a horse if you're over the limit"! She was 4 times over!

Totally agree Bernard. I suggest that when their houses burn down due to dodgy wiring installed by a non licensed 'sparky' and his mates, they are only allowed to call the privately funded fire brigage they have established just for the priviledge of being able to.

Why are the public funding roads anyway? Individuals should assess the driveability of any given trip themselves.
