Contrary to what we are often told, so far as minimising the impact of food production on GHG emissions goes, "what you eat is far more important than where your food traveled from". Food miles should not be our biggest concern.

    So, let see if MitoFinder can find something interesting in it : mitofinder -j Mito_BlueTit -a GCF_002901205.1_cyaCae2_genomic.fna -r some_refences.gb -o 2 -p 2 Bingo : is 15kb long and contains all the 15 mitochondrial genes! 2/2

One nice illustration of what MitoFinder can do : find and annotate mitogenome in an existing assembly. Example : There no mitochondrial genome available for the blue tit despite that there is a whole genome assembly = 1/2

Check out our new release of MitoFinder! We improved the annotation step and we add tbl format output files. MitoFinder provides a simple way to extract the mitochondrial signal from your NGS data and verify that you have sequenced the right specimen 😉

And this platform is already here , and the peer reviewing system on top of that too . The only thing is missing is that we scientist abandon our ego and remember that we are here living of public money, to do just science.

So far I’ve only heard of one single daily newspaper - - who has decided to exclude all advertisements regarding fossil products and services. Who will be the next one? Who will be the first major international newspaper to lead on this?

Absolutely stoked to announce that our paper on the gut microbiomes of over 900 vertebrate species is finally out today in mBio! Spoiler alert: birds and bats have similarly odd assemblages.
