People keep making Nixon/Trump comparison with law and order, but may be just as relevant than Nixon and Biden are both extremely square two-term VPs offering something familiar in midst of chaos.

Nixon also wasn't an incumbent President in 1968, he was the insurgent, he was Trump in 2016 maybe, not 2020

Ironic part is Biden was a mover on the crime bill, but he's now running from it. He would be a perfect New Nixon except instead of saying 'I told you so' he's saying 'forgive me for I have sinned.'

Might actually help then that Biden isn’t running as an incumbent either. If this had been happening in ‘16 he’d have had even a tougher time.

People are missing the point about 1968. The situation was so bad that the incumbent didn't even try to run for re-election. Last time that has happened in the US.

Have always thought i45*** would walk for blanket pardons for him and immediate family + a billion dollars cash strapped to a palette accompanying him as he leaves the US forever on a flight to the refuge of his choice, e.g. Russia or Saudi Arabia. Cheap at 5 times the price.
