Regarding the Brooks column and the theme of crossover votes, I actually tend to side more with those on the left complaining about it, but that has much to do with what I see as my professional obligations. I’ll explain.

Indeed, that’s the point I was trying to make. Moderation is good, but some of us have a habit of making a handful of ourselves representative of a larger population of which we are not in fact representative.

The truth is probably most people don’t vote for someone who supports ALL their views. It’s more he shares most of my views or agrees with me on what I feel most strongly about. Or even well at least he’s not crazy
