Did you see the flip flops post? Making sculptures with them!

Hi Ben, genuine question - I’ve heard a lot about rubbish being left on Everest, discarded oxygen canisters etc...did you see a lot up there? And also were you able to ensure you didn’t leave any waste behind? Thanks

We took all our rubbish home. I have written a piece for tomorrow’s
@guardianeco about how clean the mountain is. B - Show replies

1/2 Here in Germany the vast majority of plastic pop bottles are recycled, money back. Household plastic waste also has its own bin for recycling. Most kids take food to school in special a Vesperbox, a reusable plastic box, and have refillable drink bottles.

Germany is the largest European exporter of
#plasticwaste to Asia as well. No-one is sure what happens to those 870,000 tonnes which are exported! - Show replies

2/2 We try to do the same for work, making meals at home and taking in Tupperware. Refillable bottles etc. I know the boxes are still plastic, but not throwaway. More must be done to find a viable alternative. Glass won't do for school. Paper leaks. It'll be a tough job.

It is really scary how much we used single use plastics. Supermarket and suppliers could make such a difference. I fear for the future if nothing is done :-(

What happens to the plastic that already exists if we cannot recycle it, how do we dispose of it?

This is my question too. Where are we putting the stuff we pick up from the beach etc
