        the diagram shows damage to returning bombers in WW2. Plan was to armour the areas getting the most damage. But then...

        it was pointed out the sample was planes that returned. planes that were hit in the unmarked areas didn't return.

        Armour didn't prove that useful though. The best solution was speed and agility - such as the Mosquito.
