If it's not a thing already, offline downloads on Premium should count towards some form of extra compensation for independent creators on the platform!

The idea that someone is compelled to go the length of downloading your work feels like it merits extra compensation in some way to me. Something similar can/should be asked of streaming services, having downloads count towards some sort of compensation for creator & personnel.

But the download is really just time shifting their availability. Why should video a, who was lucky enough to be streamed online because the viewer had time at that time, be treated differently than another?

I don't think you can just set automatic downloads for every video that shows up in the app, so to me a download indicates a deeper interest in the creator, a part of the audience that I think is key to tap into in the attention economy.

Also... downloading a video costs YouTube more than streaming it.
