@vitalfarms What are you doing to combat this practice? I suggest using dual-purpose breeds and charging us the difference. To sweeten the deal, #RawEggNationalism is prepared to visit fire and fury, the likes of which have never been seen before, upon your competitors.

This is another reason I stress getting top quality eggs from good producers. We can look on in disgust at the Chinese eating live animals, but supporting industrial agriculture makes us no better than them and I’m not interested in not being superior to the Han.

If they produce eggs, why do they have so many baby chicks?
-
These are the hatcheries that produce genetically modified breeds that are only useful for laying - meaning that the male chicks get killed. This could be avoided by using normal dual purpose breeds.

Switched some time ago from buying eggs in the market to getting them from a trusted family down the street. Negligible increase in price for a vastly superior product and a clean conscience. Once you get used to it you really can't go back to the garbage found on the shelves.

Myostatin inhibitors decrease muscle growth, right? What’s the difference between the male and the female chickens? Do the females we’re fed have more myostatin inhib and therefore produce lower gains?
-
No, myostatin decreases muscle growth. Inhibiting this increases this.
