    I just found my favorite baseball story ever. In 1893, a batter fouled off a pitch and broke the last bat at the park, so he walked over to a woodpile and picked up an axe.         Fun! One of those "back in my day from an old-timer" stories. Looks like the paper is from July or August 1937 - Jesse Haines turned 44 on July 22 and the Farr-Louis fight was August 30. (Coincidentally, Haines was born in 1893, the year this game supposedly took place)
