Last, but not least, postdoc Tom Burke will present his work on feedback loops between Rho GTPases and actomyosin arrays. In the context of wound repair, this results in an "enzymatic corral" which organizes the GTPase array. Find Tom at poster B621 on Monday at 12!

Recent graduate will be presenting a poster on a beautiful marriage between in-vitro and in-vivo approaches, which revealed that RhoGDI actively contributes to spatiotemporal patterning of GTPases arrays. Find Adriana at poster B617 on Monday at 12!

Immature oocytes do not normally display cortical excitability, but has successfully developed them into a robust model for studying excitable dynamics. If you want to learn more (or just watch some trippy movies), come to poster B625 on Monday at 12pm!

Grad student will be presenting a poster on the cell cycle regulation of excitable Rho and actin dynamics. Pictured: rate of actin assembly (blue) and disassembly (orange) as this cell passes through mitosis. Find Zac at poster B95 on Sunday from 12-130!

We usually associate with and mitotic spindles – but, are actin filaments involved in this process? Check out this report using a specific fixation protocol to preserve them! 👉

Very relevant work by and Bieling Lab in 1. showing that RhoGDI extracts active from membranes in vivo 2. this is required to shape Rho activity patterns 1/2

    3. GDI binds Rho at the membrane before extraction (2-step extraction mechanism?) 4. also includes nice analysis of "activeness" of constitutively active Rho mutants (very useful reference) 2/2

and Ilaria Visco design internal tags and small chemical tags for Rho, Rac, and Cdc42. Through direct visualization of GTPases on supported lipid bilayers and in vivo, they uncover a novel branch of GTPase regulation: extraction of active GTPases by RhoGDI.

Awesome work from the that came out right before our spindle actin paper. Don't know how we missed this, but will add a citation in proof!

We hypothesize that these populations may be involved in spindle positioning and/or mitotic progression. For all this and more, see the whole paper:
