Masksmanship Hunter is another interesting case. Pretty much braindead without talents, but once you put pressure on your focus regen (via Barrage/Piercing,SS etc) then it starts to get more interesting. Playing it well will require good resource management, esp Steady Focus.

And 'Edgy dude with a bow' isn't Scampi and Chips?

Why does everything gotta be absurdly steeped in incredibly specific fantasy?
-
ppl choose a main based on at least one of 3 basic aspects: fantasy, raid viability, or fun play. Obv not every class is gonna be equal in all 3, but any class lacking in the one department is gonna have to fall back on the other aspects.

I’d prefer it to have ranger instead of dark ranger or marksmen. There’s abilities on all in game lore ranger fantasies, dark ranger is toooooo specific. Add like heavy cloaks and shiz

it's not that "dude with a bow" is weak inherently, but "dude who's really good at aiming" falls a little flat in a game where you only miss based on stats. all that said, class fantasy is highly subjective. Hunter has always bored me in that regard, but my buddy loves it.

Dark Ranger could be good, hints of Sylv and some 'lock flavor. An Arcane Archer with arrows flavored with the 3 mage specs. heavy nature theme with bits of Druid. a Spirit Archer with a few totems. there's a lot w/o having to concept a whole new spec from scratch

My issue with Hunter is that there's either no nuance at all for them or all the nuance, so much so that your eyes bleed instead of crying just for thinking about proc situationality. Honestly at this point it just feels like rogue but far away and with way more downtime.

That being said, dude with a bow fantasy isn't inherently a dead fantasy. It's just hard to capture the feeling of being a marksman when you're basically a glorified turret. They need something like high ground advantage and some way to create it for themselves. Idk, man.

I think it's because it combines the themes of the rifleman the Dark Ranger and the PotM from WC3.
