You don't nearly always win in raids. You nearly always lose, and then you win once and move on to the next boss.

Game design wise, not really, imo. Raids do not have a failure state. You can fail to win, but that's different from a 'you loose and are booted out'. Example of failure states in raids would probably be limited heroic attempts back in the Wrath days.

That's exactly what I mean. Warfronts will kick you out when you lose, so they have to be straightforward enough for, essentially, an LFR group to reasonably win. All those cool things you can do in them have to be rendered fairly meaningless in the grand scheme overall.

Ah gotcha. I premade difficulty that was balls hard, such that the reactive elements mattered, would be very good. And replayable IF the various events and enemies felt different.

Was chatting with
@Ghostlyy in the office this morning about it, he linked this. Which nails it. For LFR content blizzard feel like they have to stay in the bottom left.pic.twitter.com/gWxwyOeXpi

Part of me wonders if it self fulfilling. Does Blizzard expecting very, VERY little from their broad audience reinforce them not being good at the game.

Right. My hope was the triumph of Mythic+ and Mage Tower might have nudged then in a slightly different mindset there.

My jaw dropped a little when they said that the initial difficulty of Island Expeditions was a good fit for heroic.

Not got alpha, but aren't they supposed to be comparable to dungeons? And aren't heroic dungeons easy too? Aren't MYTHIC dungeons easy too? That's what concerns me.

Making higher difficulty content takes more time and appeals to less players. It's lucky we still have mythic raiding. The only way I see them providing hard content is in M+-like scaling systems. They're more afraid of frustrating low skill players than boring higher skill ones.

Is Mythic raiding too hard for too few people & takes resources away from making more broadly applicable difficult content. Interesting question, don't know the answer.
