So I think the only way they'll get out of this hole is to really change up some of their non instance based core gameplay loops.

IMO the ideal solution is a pretty medium sized amount of content / systems, but with high levels of interactivity between them.

You get a lot further by having systems that can react to players & provide a varied experience. Repetition of static content is the problem
