Steam Direct... From a dev perspective I like it. Not curated which sucks. I think around £1000 would be ideal for preventing shovelware.

Indeed. I think for most serious devs something around £1k wouldn't be a massive issue. Am sure publishers / bank would cover.

mmm, from what I've read, the fee they're talking about is anywhere between $100 and 5k and for every entry, not just once

Kinda thing where your publisher would probably be happy to cover that fee (assuming they somehow couldn't get you on normally)
