Ah, the usual Pyro Twitter salt. Competition is important. Blizzard hasn’t had mmos that compete on WoWs strengths, and has inflected countless self owns over the last 5 years. So yes, they need to get their ass in gear.

Ah, the usual Bellular clickbait remark. Competition is important. Blizzard has had multiple MMOs compete with it, including ESO and FF. Both of which have now have smaller recurring playerbases by landslides. I'm not excusing the shit show that was BFA, but stop being dramatic.

I don’t believe that either of those games compete with WoW on WoWs terms. FF is inherently limited to its appeal, and ESO is nothing like WoW.

So you mean to suggest that Riot is going to handcraft a game that is meant to compete directly on the strengths of WoW? Sounds delusional.

A gameplay driven MMO with western appeal? I mean, considering LoL essentially ganked WoW’s art style, yeah. They’ve got a better shot at hitting the mass western mmo market.

Perhaps they do, but that doesn't change what many WoW players enjoy about WoW: It's WoW. It's not about it "being the best MMO" or having the "western art style" People have an attachment to something they've experienced for perhaps 15 years. Not to an art style.

Yeah, that’s WoW’s moat, and the primary reason why it’s very, very hard to touch. LoL is absurdly large, has done a lot of world building work, and is kicking off trans media narrative content + SP narrative titles. All for Runeterra. That’s V different to Wildstar...

All I'm saying is that the remark is annoying because they've just delivered probably the best expansion launch in the history of the game and you're here saying they better get it in gear. It's just makes me wonder what world you're experiencing and how Riot will change anything

They did, but internal rumours imply low morale. Their staff are underpaid vs the norms of the region, especially versus Riot. There is a lot of brain drain going on. AB need to increase Blizzard resources & be a more competitive employer.

And I think those are fair things to say. However, maybe in your post you should make reference to how employees are being handled instead of implying that the game itself is the source of competition.

Oh that's why I said Blizz needs to get its ass in gear - Blizz, the org. In a world there one of the other big companies (that also has INSANE MAUs) is stepping into their market, they can't have morale issues, staff pay not being competitive, etc

Part of the conclusion of my video is that it feels WoW's revenue to investment ratio seems out of whack, esp versus CoD, AB's other big cash cow. A *hope* is that this will be a slap in the face, showing them that WoW needs to be treated better.

I believe Schrier / co have mentioned this now, so it's okay to say - part of the Blizz job losses was a pre-emptive underestimation of Classic performance. Like, Blizz can't keep on doing this dumb shit.
