Imagine being a game journalist and not understanding game development to this degree.
Very cool. I mean it is Waypoint (VICE Games), so I’m hardly surprised.
As we all know, true solo devs write their own compiler, model file format, and more!

Hah yeah I guess so - It’s just if you’re game journo, and your article is dunked on by loads of AAA devs... perhaps it’s the time to step back and take a thing about your approach.

Ain’t as bad as that wild situation where Rock Paper Shotgun misunderstood uh code and tried to take down Rimworld. What a time that was hahaha

That one did seem very odd indeed, and in that case, sure, they were coming at it from a angle suggesting knowledge was already had, making criticising that important for sure :)

I guess my major point being that I wonder how many AAA devs are taking what seem like cheap shots at it without mentioning said context. Which I think is important. Few enjoy learning from sources who’ve just mocked those who don’t have the understanding yet :)

If they don’t understand, then why are covering it as a part of their profession? Like, that’s woefully below the standards we hold ourselves to. When the people with the megaphone are spouting nonsense, gotta spread the word that it’s just that.
