Not a copyright expert but... ins’t that considered Criticism / Review? (Assuming it’s subject is the product itself). I’m also genuinely curious now

Can't give official legal advice in this forum, but it depends on use. For standard reviews and such, I recommend using press kits and things with express permission already granted. Fair Use should often hold, but you'll want legal to review.

Screenshots are derivative works that you own the copyright for, unless specified otherwise in writing. If you check the terms of usage for the game, there's normally a section that touches on the rights you have through your game license , regarding fair use of derivative work.

Assuming you're talking about self sourced images and not those provided through a press kit? If you take an image from a game it should come under the review/criticism conditions for the UK: https://copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p27_work_of_others … (NB: Based on last time I looked this up while doing my degree)

For it to qualify as something you can copyright in and of itself, need to look at whether it qualifies as derivative. But for the majority it shouldn't come under that, I don't think. https://copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p22_derivative_works …
