Let's get something straight. Gay people existing is not a political stance. Don't be like Jenko. Seriously.https://twitter.com/ChloeDropper/status/1183020536353427457 …

Maybe you can confirm me this, but apparently both Tracer and Soldier are straight in China? So yeah, I totally agree that raising awareness on the LGBT community can be seen as a political stance
Fuck'n wot? I didn't know that. Uh, source?
I have to agree. I'm LGBT myself and, even in much of the west, my existence is, to many people, inherently political and thus politicised. Talking about myself often is "bringing politics into it", whatever the topic is - we like to think we're over it, but we're not yet at all.
And like you specified, when Blizzard is dealing with a multitude of cultures as their customers/consumer base, let alone their investors.. almost anything can be seen as political, since really that word is a stand-in for "contentious". And a global consensus is rare on anything
Or rather what's more likely, is that the company's values are not genuine (:pic.twitter.com/hRLPwsj6MH
Anything that has to do with a social group becomes political due to the many situations in different countries and some where they are still being oppresed. Nobody is saying Blizzard shouldn't support the inclusion of groups fighting for rights. If you do you do so equally
The point is that if you use JABs logic (in the response post) against Blizzard's values, you see that their values aren't compatible. According to what JAB posted, pro LGBT sentiment in a tourny setting = the same punishment as with Blitzchung.
Correct. There is no standard. They are cherry-picking how they apply said values.
Ill have to agree with Tali here because of that though. Until we hold this as a standard now once things settle, can’t really jump to much of a conclusion. Also was there a case of a player making a statement directly during an interview and entirely off topic?
An earlier example would be not releasing LGBT materials in countries like Russia. ...Like, there are companies who threatened to pull out of Georgia (I think?) over abortion changes. Acti-Blizz ain't that type, it'd seem.
