Do you think sharding has worked out well for World of Warcraft? IMO: - Seeing more players around is good - It seems to have massively limited world content (as your servers world doesn’t matter when you can just hop to another one).
I suppose it feels like the world state mattering less results in more weekly checklist styled progression on the character - as when the world doesn't matter, it's all down to your character

For sure, Twitter is Twitter. You can be a lot more nuanced in a 10 minute video. Load-balancing and modern systems are just one element of the story. Finding a true solution to the problem will be different to ‘remove sharding’ I’m sure
