Loot boxes were fine in small quantities, like maybe one every say fifty games, but when every single game back to back has loot box systems in place, just playing on people’s gambling addictions or the very concept of gambling addictions, somebody has to put their foot down.

Gamers validated the "videogames cause violence" for them. The same institutes tested loot boxes, the same lobbyists against sexuality in games. This is the workings of full-on censorship and outright destruction of the entire medium. And people cheered it on.

If adults are wasting their money on lootboxes, they should deal with the consequences of their actions. If children are buying them, condemn the parents. Don't buy lootboxes or games with them. Government force is not the answer, no one has a right to a lootbox-free game.

Insisting that governments step in to stop "Lootbox addiction" would set a very dangerous precedent. Especially in light of the recent "Gaming disorder" nonsense. Giving government the power to control people "for their own good" is a massive mistake, and has never truly worked.
