In other words they have no sense of long-term business health and just make hasty short-term decisions driven by greed and then find out it wasn't a great decision so they hire back people conveniently who will start at lower salaries to save even more money

My company has done this. Rehired for the exact same position when the market conditions changed in a short 3 months. Mind you, it takes ~12 months to become trained in my field. I don't understand it.

Nope that’s not it bell. They fired ppl before the end of year to balance the books and now they rehire for the same positions on a lower salary and contracts that are way more in their favour. It’s scum 101
