It's player fatigue for both: news and gameplay. You can only hear "Azerite" "BfA screws up this or that", "Store mount this or that" before it becomes a joke or just something where ppl cba to care anymore. To top it off, 8.2 is not around for a while yet, just PTR.

Not being part of a raiding guild and having so many other games on the market has kept me away from WoW more than anything else. Most of the time I log into the game to do a few world quests, but having content hated behind difficulty walls (Mythic dungeons for story? Wtf)=nope

Gated. Not hated.

I think there's an element you might be missing. The way gamers deal with negativity is changing: both how it is demonstrated, and talked about socially. Silence has become by far the preferred means by many people to react to anything that might be considered as contentious.

I often screen a tweet for needless negativity and usually delete instead of send. My complaints won’t fix anything, so why bother anyone? ¯\(˚͜ °)/¯

Tired of Blizzard jerking around the players and handing us nerfs wrapped up as benefits (losing intrinsic utility on the striders, fex, but presenting it as gaining cosmetic choice). My trust is gone. Now I see something added and wonder "what's the catch?"

I can only speak for myself but I stopped watching WOW-Content on YT not because I don't care about the game because I got tired of YTlers ranting about the game. I don't mind them not liking the game but I hated the way it was communicated.

I'm hyped for 8.2... But I am burned out on this game (BFA, not WoW in general). Levelling feels downright unfriendly which is what I used to do in downtimes... and this new raid feels too confusing and busy for my Heroic raiding Guild. We are AOTC Jaina just last week.

My biggest issue with BFA was not really the systems etc, the biggest factor for me was the pruning of class abilities. I remember playing the beta early on, and it just felt as i was playing a worse and more boring version of legion. First beta i ever had, and i just felt bored
